Disappointing! A previous reviewer was correct, and whoever made this cable didn't understand how shielded analog microphone cables should be assembled (Google-able in 1 minute). They did use a shielded cable, but didn't hook the shield up to anything. Instead, a separate 3rd lead (core) is used inside each cable to carry the ground (in addition to the usual balanced signal +/- cores). Completely bewildering since this 3rd core even makes each cable thicker than needed (not easy to stuff all those into the 10-pin). Even worse, the shields are just cut off and un-insulated inside the 10-pin connector's metal ferrule, where they can rub and cause additional noise (they're also just cut off inside the XLRs, but the crimp on that is plastic).Bottom line is that any handling of the cables or connectors causes noise (hum) and clicking/glitching on the audio inputs. Also other frequency sources may cause noise (eg. I waved my cell phone around the cables). If you leave them alone and never disturb the cables or connectors during recording, they may be OK. Or re-wire it properly.I gave it 2 stars because the actual soldering and rest of the assembly is quite good. If they had just wired it properly, it'd be "4.5" stars (really, some 5¢ markers on the Right-side channels would have been nice). I actually got in touch with Alvin and he seemed receptive to making the cables correctly, but communication broke down.I ended up buying my own parts for around $45 and wiring it myself (no noise at all with proper shielding). The 10-pin connectors are quite small, 28ga wire is absolute maximum (I used Mogami W2697). Returned Alvin's cable, not worth keeping a $90 item for half that worth of parts... sorry Alvin.
