I had a difficult time setting up this device. First, it is slightly bigger in diameter than the hole in my apartment door so it sticks out instead of being flush with the door.Second, the app is not user friendly. My wireless router uses both 2.4 and 5 GB on one connection which always worked for everything before, switching back a forth as needed. This device requires 2.4 so per their instructions I had to create a separate 2.4 and 5 GB connection and connect only to the 2.4 for this device and my cell phone. That caused problems with my laptop and printer settings and had to change them as well.Third, it says it takes pictures when motion is detected. While that is true, it only takes one and has a delayed reaction. So when someone arrives at the outside door, it doesn't take a picture until they're halfway back the hall to my apartment door, and it only takes one picture. A previous device I had took 3-5 pictures which helped me catch someone loitering at my door. This device would not have caught that.Fourth, it takes several steps to get to the place in the app to see the pictures of detected motion, half of which show nothing because it's someone who came i and went downstairs so the delayed action of the camera wasn't fast enough to pick up that as the steps are right inside the outer door.I mainly got a new device because after the old one broke, I missed being able to clearly see who's at my door with just a fisheye peephole that doesn't show the view clearly. I've been using it now for a couple of weeks and it's still at 90% battery which is great! I was charging my own old at least once a week.Overall, it's OK, but I wouldn't buy it again. It is so hard finding a device that matches the features of a cell phone app, being able to look out when someone comes to the door and see or talk to them, and the 3-5 pictures when motion is detected. I also like being able to adust volume, reminders, etc. which is not easy with the Tuya app that this device uses.I can't speak to tech support because I did not need to contact them.UPDATE: Over a year later this device is still working well. The only problem I discovered yesterday is that when the electric goes out (and thus internet as well), I lose the functionality of the device. Someone came to my door while the electric was out and I could not get it to turn on so I could see who was at the door. I'm thinking about discontinuing Xfinity internet (wifi) and go with a hotspot with AT&T. I am hoping that will alleviate this problem as well because once you have the device installed on your door, there's no way to see out when the electric goes out and there's no wifi. That is unacceptable!I originally purchased a Ring peephole camera but I have a thick door and the cable for their camera wasn't long enough. The Ring camera cable works with a normal thickness door but if yours is wider, like mine, this Smart Peephole Camera will do the trick. It doesn't have all the options the Ring has but it serves the purpose of having an electronic security camera at your door. The night vision is great and the motion detection is excellent. My one grip is the location of the door bell button. The entire device is gray and black with the ring button at the bottom in gray (with a bell icon). I have found some people don't realize that there is a button for them to ring and knock instead (maybe the button doesn't stand out enough). Although, if they don't use the button and knock I can still see them fine through the app and video monitor. When I get a movement notification (without a doorbell ring) on my phone by the time I open the app and it loads whatever caused the motion detector to go off is gone. It does have a feature in app notifications on the phone where you can see a screen capture of what caused all the motion detection. This works better in showing why I received a motion detection from the sensor but the photos are smaller and harder to see on the phone. The video monitor on the door is large enough to see what's on the other side even better than my original peephole. The phone app has a feature that allows you to see and talk with anyone at your door even when you're not at home. The installation was easy and the peephole fit my current peephole perfectly without any modifications. The install was a matter of unscrewing the old peephole assembly and screwing the new one in and running the cable through the door (the hole was already there). It mounted in about 10-15 minutes. The battery lasts about 3 months with normal use in my experience before I have to re-charge. Connecting to the phone app was easy. It does require a 2.4 wifi connection only. The phone app has a free and paid plan for cloud storage if you want to save the videos/photos. They have monthly and annual cloud storage plans starting at $5.99 monthly or $54.99 annually (as of this writing) but for me the free plan is more than enough. This Smart Peephole Camera provides all the security I wanted at a reasonable price, it's working as advertised and i couldn't be happier with my purchase.
