I bought this mount 4 years ago - I know, finally getting around to an actual review - and I have to say this is a great stand. A previous stand for a dual monitor set up literally put a whole through my desk, so I didn't want to have anything that clamped or would make me put a required hole in my desk. That was the reason I went with this particular mount because of the option to use a stand. While the base is really big, I can't complain because I wanted something sturdy and something that would hold three 24 inch monitors and it has worked like a charm. That's the pros, so here are the cons.Again, the base is pretty big and takes up a good portion of my desk, though it is mostly covered by full mouse pad. A major con is the center console - after upgrading to a 27 inch monitor, adjusting the monitor is a pain, no matter how many times I tighten the screws. It's probably off center, but adjusting it means the monitor dips and it's only moving it until it stops that makes it worse. For the side monitors, I have both in a portrait setup (so two 24 in (R+L) and 27 in (center) for a PLP or tie fighter orientation). While I have enjoyed this setup, I hate that I can't truly move the monitors how I'd like. I also have issues with both of these getting out of alignment with a simple touch.Because I want to upgrade the other two monitors at some point, I've decide to replace this with a more flexible arm mount. Worse case scenario, the upgrades will already have the ability to rotate without the need for a mount, but I haven't decided yet.If I weren't so pleased with the end result, I would probably give this a much lower rating. I'll start with the pros (which are short and sweet) and end with the cons (which include more details and instructions)Pros:--This thing is STURDY. I have 3 monitors that, in total, weigh over 50 pounds. The base does a great job. Saw no need to bolt to desk.--The stand does a great job at hiding itself and has good cable management to boot. All you see are your monitors, the base, and the pole going up (and maybe a couple stray cables (: )--Awesome quality for the price. This is my first amazon review, not sure what the rules are for posting about the price... but whatever. Lets just say that it has the quality of the full retail price listed so the sale price makes it totally worth it. Deal breaker for me.--Super easy to move the monitors around (except up/down.. more on that later). If you move the monitor left/right, you do have to rotate the monitor to compensate. I don't know how to explain it, but the orientation of the monitor will not stay the same when you move left/right. I'm sure its hard to avoid this when you have a mount that moves up/down/left/right + 360 degrees. So its understandable. Just thought I'd mention it.--The middle mount is ROCK SOLID. From the start I knew I had no intention of moving the middle monitor around. I tightened everything all the way...... no joke, that monitor is not going anywhere. Seriously. Can't say the same for the side monitors...Cons:Putting this together was a nightmare. If you exclude removing the old individual stands of each of the monitors and completely disassembling the cable setup around my desk, the process of building this stand and attaching the monitors to it took 4 grueling hours. A couple tips for building (which are essentially flaws in the directions, in my opinion):-When putting together the arms + base + center piece, make sure the orientation of the center piece is correct. There IS a correct way. The center mount attaches to the center piece so that the middle screw is on top and the side screws are on the bottom. I don't know how else to explain it. If you mess up, you'll realize it... and have to take the arms off again. Just make sure the orientation of the center piece is correct before moving forward. This can save you an hour.-For the side mounts. Definitely attach the mount to the monitor first. Once they are attached, you will probably need to tighten the up/down swivel. This swivel is the one that is located closest to the monitor. The nut to tighten it is covered up by a plastic cover... I didn't realize they were covers until I saw the extra covers that come in the box. They are hard to remove. Tighten that sucker good because if you have a somewhat heavy monitor (12 pounds or more) it WILL droop down when on the stand. You don't want to try tightening it while it is on the stand. Get your up/down axis situated before you put it on the stand. You can always adjust the left/right and 360 rotation later. Of course, this means going up/down whenever you want isn't really an option......Which gets more into my main issue with this mount. I understand that my 3 year old 24" LCD monitor is pretty heavy (14 pounds). But this mount says it can handle it. Well... not really. I have to tighten that thing SO HARD for gravity not to take over and the monitor just droops downward. I was able to tighten it that hard but it is impossible to adjust. Which actually works out for me, I don't want it to move up/down, but I find that to be a flaw in what the stand promises it can do. I do want to add that the center mount can handle it but the side mounts can't. So its on the side and its tightened to the point where it won't budge up/down. Moves left/right and rotates 360, which is great. However, for some odd reason, the entire monitor is vertically lower than the center monitor. It is not that they are facing different directions, but the top of the side monitor is 1 inch below the top of the center monitor and the bottom of the side monitor is 1 inch below the bottom of the center monitor. I have tried e v e r y t h i n g. I think it is just because the monitor is too heavy. Incredibly frustrating.Even through those cons, still 4 stars. Awesome quality, awesome price. Just unfriendly towards heavy monitors (which the description claims to be able to handle)Greetings All,This is an excellent triple monitor stand. It's very solid and I believe it can support monitors significantly heavier than the 3 23inch monitors I have mounted upon it. The directions included in the box were very clear to me and the nuts and bolts you need to construct the stand were very conveniently separated by type ... so you didn't need to go searching through a jumble of nuts and bolts looking for the ones you need, each group was in it's own separate plastic pouch. I found construction to be easy to accomplish, each step following the previous one in a way I found could understand intuitively. Once set up I was pleased to note that the back of the central support column contains a number of extra holes which would allow the user to have a number of different options to choose from for the height of the arms ... so if the monitors are too high you could slide down take out a screw and slide down the arms and all three monitors attached to them with very little trouble (although it would be wiser to first remove all three monitors before making this adjustment, even a strong man could have trouble with this task if he was doing it by himself due to the weight of the monitors). I should also note that I found adding and removing monitors to this stand to be very easy to do. You can slide the VESA plates and everything behind them that attaches them to the arms off the arms of the stand with a twist of a lever. You can then flip your lcd over to see the back of it, attach the VESA plates to the lcd with four screws then slide the lcd and all it's attached to back onto the arm you removed it from, position it as you prefer, then retwist the lever to secure it all into position.I only have two things to say that are not completely positive and each of them have their beneficial aspects:- The description of the stand as Free Standing is I think misleading. The stand has a very thick bolt in the central support column that goes through a hole in your desktop and is anchored with a very large washer and securing bolt on the bottom side of your desktop. So, if you think free standing means what I think it means, then this stand is not free standing, but for me this was actually a bit of a relief because I had my doubts that a stand could support three monitors without any anchorage of any kind. I thought the torque from the monitors would easily tip it over. If that is your worry too, then worry not. There is an anchor and for the last several months since I acquired this stand it has been rock solid for me.- The arms that branch out from the main trunk bend gradually toward the computer user so that every monitor can be see pretty much straight on if you simply turn your head. I understand the reason this is done but the bend was not apparent to me in the image posted with this product and the angle of the bend is rigid because the arm is a single piece of metal... they cannot be altered. I find this puts a considerable portion of my desk behind the two side monitors and while this has not been catastrophic for me it was unexpected and it is inconvenient. In order to remedy this I would have to anchor the triple monitor stand on something behind my desk which could put the monitors too far away from me. I would have liked to have had the option to set the angle of the arms personally. On the plus side making the arms a single rigid piece of metal makes the arms very strong and capable of supporting larger monitors than they would have otherwise. If the manufacturer had included a joint for the arm that would have introduced an additional possible point of failure into this system. Perhaps they felt a joint in the arm would have been a weak point in the system that would have been likely to fail. I'm not an engineer but considering the size of monitor this stand was intended to support (up to 28inches) making the arms a single piece of rigid meal seems reasonable to me.All in all I am extremely satisfied with this stand. :-)Paul JimersonThe build quality of the product seems great. However, it did not work for my 27" monitors. You have to check your monitor and make sure that the screws in the back to hang the monitor are in the center (both vertically and horizontally). In my case they were in the top middle and the arms of this stand are not strong enough to hold / support the monitors without tilting. Very disappointed. Return shipping seems to be a pain too since the product is very heavy and bulky.Easy to install and assemble. Very sturdy even with just middle monitor and either side, no tipping unless forced.
