First off, let me say my experience with bed alarms has been challenging. I have returned 3 others (in 6 months) until I found this one. As primary caregiver to my mom (who needs to use a walker, and has dementia) I was worried she would get of bed at night and I wouldn't wake up to ensure she was doing it safely. After having problems with the other bed alarms, I was able to determine the features I wanted:1) Must have an ON/OFF switch, so I can turn it off BEFORE my mom gets out of bed. I don't want her to get used to hearing the alarm.2) The bed pad must be sensitive enough, and work consistently, so the alarm WORKS EVERY TIME she gets up.3) I wanted to be able to hang the alarm on the bottom of the hospital bed frame. I think this model is designed to be screwed onto a wall, so I removed the green case (which made it easier to access the on/off switch), then took the strap (not shown), cut it in half, wrapped painters tape on each end (so half the tape was on the strap, and half wound around itself), then I but both flexible halves into the battery compartment, and screwed the cover on. This allowed the front of the alarm to hang down so it faces the floor, which is VERY helpful because...4) I wanted a model that had a flashing light to indicate it was on, but I didn't want the light facing towards me because I sleep about 12' away (which gives me the peace of mind I need to get a decent night of sleep myself).I've used this alarm for a year now, so I need to buy a replacement pad. However, this model has been so consistent that I wouldn't even consider buying something else.
