About a year ago my office was notified we would be moving to a different floor in our office building and would be getting new Steelcase office furniture (cubicles and a chair). At the time I was using two monitors sitting on desk stands that didn't have any adjustment range. One monitor stand was so short I had it sitting on a empty portable camera box to get the the monitor heights about even. The monitors took up a lot of desk space and I had to lean in to read the screens with my computer reading glasses. Our building services and IT folks had no suggestions so I did the reasearch on monitor stands and whether they would fit the new cubical desktops. Fortunately the new furniture had a cable route space gap at the back that would allow the C-Clamp mount to work fine. After researching all kinds of monitor stands online I found the Ergotron LX dual monitor stand fit my needs just right. The MSRP price was good and the Amazon price was excellent. Free shipping on top of that and we had a deal. The dual monitor "kit" shipped with excellent packing and instructions and I had no difficulty in assembling it and mounting it to the back of the cubicle desk top.Since my PC operating position is in one corner of the cube I initially installed the base mount on the left but later moved it to the right side to get a little more left/right angle adjustment to avoid sun glare on my monitors coming in my office windows.Routing the cables along the articulating arms was easy and I am happy with the installation. At our floors open house where we had visitors looking at how our offices/cubes were layed out, folks were asking what brand and model monitor stand I was using to see about getting their own.One thing I might have done differently was to order two single Ergotron LX articulating arms with bases so I could mount one on the left and one one right of my corner desktop to be able to move the monitors closer to the operater (me).I'm still satisfied with the additional desk space provided and the range of movement the Ergotron provides, I will keep it for a long time. If there's another office move it will be the first thing I pack to go with me.7/15/2013 Well, I've had to move my office to another floor and I'm still using the same Ergotron listed above. The monitor arms are still working great and moving the stand was easy. I even got the chance to upgrade my monitors to (2) two new ViewSonic VP2365-LED 23" widescreen monitors (also purchased on Amazon). They're great too. Please note when shopping for monitors or mounts, that the monitor can mount to the stand you're considering and vise versa. Mine uses the "VESA" standard (4) screw mount. To use, just unscrew the monitor from the fixed base it comes with and attach it to the compatable monitor arm mount. If only the hundred cardboard moving boxes I had to assemble, pack, and unpack were as easy to work with, I would be a happy camper.12/14/2016 This dual monitor stand is still going and I'm still happy with it. So much so that I have recommended one for my boss who has finally decided she should upgrade to a dual display to keep up with the mounds of PC information she deals with every day. I had forgot this review but recently discovered it again while looking for the model number of the one I purchased in 2010. This is the one I will order for her based on my experience with my Ergotron LX. I wish my PC's were as reliable as this dual monitor stand have been.I have arthritis in my neck and back, so I am constantly adjusting my monitors and chair. Just so you know, I am an ergo veteran with my computer workstation. I have tried yoga balls, knee chairs, standing up, laying down, etc. Currently I am back in a chair (Humanscale Freedom, 5 stars) with a traditional desk. Next up I may try a treadmill (the latest ergo craze).I use an iMac 24" with 2 extra 24" monitors for a total of 3 displays, or a Lenovo T500 laptop with 2 24" displays attached. I love multiple displays. So the Ergotron LX Dual seemed like an ideal product, especially the updated polished version that is more robust and better looking.Anyway, this thing goes together easily and is a formidable addition to your space. Be prepared to rearrange all the crap on and around your desk to accommodate this thing while you assemble and tweak it.So, how does it work? Well, the 24" monitors (Samsung 245T and HP ZR24W) apparently put the piston near its limit. I had to really mess with the tension to get the arm tight enough to support the displays without creeping down. Once it is set, it stays, but I am having trouble finding the sweet spot where I can move the display with a light one-handed touch. I have only had the mount for a couple days so I will update this review once I get it sorted.I have not mounted the iMac yet, though I really, really want to get it off that worthless stand. By the way, the Apple VESA adapter I bought was defective, so check the tolerance on that thing before taking your iMac stand off. I am skeptical that the Ergotron will adequately support it, but it is within the 20lb spec so we'll see. Right now the iMac remains on its high tech stack of books. The cable management for the lower arm is a clever plastic tray that snaps onto the bottom. The cable management for the upper arm is a friggin' plastic cable tie. Ugh! Fortunately I have a few velcro ties in my arsenal and cleaned that up, do yourself a favor and buy some to have on hand (like these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F5K82A/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?ie=UTF8&cloe_id=97a0841e-b8c6-4ce6-8c26-947df72d47bb&attrMsgId=LPWidget-A2&pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00000J1SC&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=11X2J1D5JS1R951NCFDB)The big complaint I have is not a design flaw, but a product of my needs not being met by this design. This system does not raise the monitors high enough off my desk. Once it is all set up and the displays are raised to their highest position, they are not any higher than if they were on their stands. I want to be able to gain a few more inches. One option is to adjust the mount and add a piece of wood as a shim for a maximum gain of an inch. This would look hideous, though, and I can't decide if I want a block of wood staring at me from beneath my expensive equipment. Another approach would be to have a sleeve machined to raise the base poles... hrmmm. I have searched on Ergotron's site for a replacement mount with a higher pole, but apparently the only option is the dual LX with a single higher pole instead of two lower fixed ones. But this model does not allow side-by-side 24" displays. Sigh.I am undecided about keeping this system due to the height issue... otherwise it does what it is designed to do, and does it well.As I'm sure many other reviewers have commented, the unit is well-built, sturdy and easy to assemble and disassemble. I repeatedly put it up and pulled it apart whilst trying to optimise my positioning. The arms also stay where they're put.It has two inflexible aspects:1. It cannot raise a screen above a standard laptop screen without packing the gap between the desk and the base. I would have expected this feature for three-screen set-ups.2. It struggles a bit with desks against walls when one wants the screens against the walls too. It's a problem with all mounts, but another hinge in the lower arm would help, to 'pack them down' a bit. These are just things to beware before purchase if they affect you. I am still happy with my purchase. This is the third Ergotron stand we have purchased (adding new work stations) and all have been top class. Worth the money and highly recommended.Fantastic product, give me more desk space & it's easy to adjust the position of the monitors. Looks very stylish and hides cables. WOuld highly recommend!I have used other desktop monitor mounts before but none have even come close to the quality of the Ergotron LX. When I open the box I thought I had the parts to assemble a terminator! I mean this thing is just solid steel! Highly recommend!Item as described. Delivered promptly and in good condition. These arms hold up two screens perfectly and are height adjustable. Good buy.
